Alan is an advisor and executive coach. He focuses on supporting CEOs in emerging growth healthcare companies but also works with a broader range of leaders and industries.

Alan is passionate about helping leaders navigate the challenges they face in the process of taking something from concept to creation, and ultimately, to drive impact and value. He especially enjoys combining his roles as an advisor focused on professional problem solving and as an executive coach personally supporting and guiding leaders.

Alan’s journey to this work draws on his three decades of experience in healthcare.  Alan spent many years in venture capital working for Montgomery Medical Ventures and Invesco Private Capital.  He also had substantive stints in corporate development working with The Advisory Board Company and advising Evolent Health on behalf of the founding CEO and his team.  He has an undergraduate degree in organizational behavior from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Yale School of Management.  He is also a certified coach.

In the late 1990s, Alan got the entrepreneurial bug, starting and leading Consensus Health, an alternative medicine company.  It was an exciting ride through three rounds of financing and a quarter billion dollar valuation. In the end, Consensus Health, like many other companies of that era, didn't survive the burst of the dot.com bubble.

All of these experiences and training deeply inform his work as a successful advisor and executive coach.

Alan lives in Berkeley, California, with his wife Elissa, an executive search consultant, and two teenage children. He is an avid Bob Dylan fan, a believer in the value of making one's unconscious more conscious, has a special fondness for Tassajara Zen Center, and other places of amazing beauty like the California coast and Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite.
